Veilrunner Help · Settings, data & accessibility

Settings

To open Settings, choose Veilrunner › Settings… (⌘,). Every value is saved and used by all tabs. In the Mac App Store version, Map — Early Access › Restore Purchases is at the top.

Connection

  • Reconnect automatically when the connection drops. Off by default. When it's on, a dropped link or timeout retries up to 3 times, waiting 2, 5 and then 10 seconds. It never retries after your own Disconnect. The tab shows Reconnecting… (n/3) with Cancel.
  • Use MCCP compression when the MUD offers it. On by default. Takes effect on the next connect. See MCCP.

Terminal type

This is the name Veilrunner gives when the MUD asks (TTYPE). The change is used the next time you connect.

  • Veilrunner (default) answers "Veilrunner", then "ANSI".
  • ANSI, VT100 and xterm-256color use MTTS. Veilrunner answers its own name, then that type, then MTTS with flags for ANSI, VT100, UTF-8 and 256 colors.
  • Custom sends text you type: letters, digits and symbols, up to 40 characters.

Colors

  • Color theme: Veilrunner (default), Classic xterm, Solarized Dark or High Contrast.
  • ANSI colors. You can change any of the 16 ANSI colors. A changed color shows *. Reset ANSI colors goes back to the theme's colors.
  • MUD colors: Use the MUD's colors (default) or Force my colors, which shows MUD text in plain text color.

New text uses the change. Lines already on screen keep their colors.

Display and text

  • Wrap width. Auto wraps at the window edge. A fixed width of 80 to 160 columns wraps there, and is also the width sent to the MUD on connect.
  • Scrollback size. How much text each tab keeps: 50,000 to 2,000,000 characters, 200,000 by default.
  • Show my commands in the session window. When this is off, the > look echo is hidden. The session log still records your commands.
  • Show the vitals bar. On by default. The bar only appears when the MUD sends GMCP vitals. See GMCP & vitals.
  • Pace long #N repeats (over 20). 100 ms by default. You can choose Off, 50, 100, 250, 500 or 1000 ms between each pass.
  • Character encoding. Auto (UTF-8, falling back to Latin-1), UTF-8 or Latin-1. It applies to new text.

Accessibility

  • Speak new MUD text with VoiceOver. Until you choose, this is on whenever VoiceOver is running.
  • Speak plain text. Drops ANSI art, box lines and ---- dividers.

See VoiceOver & accessibility.

Settings outside the Settings window

  • Terminal font size: ⌘+ and ⌘− (View menu), from 9 to 28 pt.
  • Log folders: Session › Choose Log Folder….
  • Per-MUD TLS: in Add/Edit Character.
